When deciding to use laser hair removal, it is important for the client to choose the right doctor for treatment. At SK-EILY, our practitioners are experts in laser hair removal and, in fact, it is one of our best-selling treatments. Kavina Trujillo, our laser hair removal specialist in the university village, conducted more than 100 laser hair removal machine treatments in 2014! The most common parts of her body for laser hair removal are underarms, bikinis, lips and legs. We asked Kavina about her hair customer’s most frequently asked questions about laser hair removal. Here are four of the most common questions customers have about laser hair removal:
Will laser hair removal hurt?
KT: This is the question most frequently asked by customers. This is also the most difficult question to answer because the pain factors vary from person to person. Everyone’s pain tolerance is a little different. Maybe uncomfortable for one person and may not affect another person? Some customers tell me that their treatment feels like a gentle pinch or a warm rubber band. It is typical for the customer to feel the warmth of the skin during the treatment, similar to sunburn, and only the warm feeling disappears almost immediately. I want to tell the customer that they will feel a kiss like a glow with afterglow.
In addition, the pain factor will depend on the area of the body being treated. Certain parts of the body are more sensitive to customers than others. Some customers even say that one side of the body is often more sensitive than the other side. Most customers agree that waxing is more painful than laser hair removal.
The customer complained more about the smell during the treatment and then what they really felt. I haven’t found a customer who likes the smell of hair. For me, this is the smell of success! This means your treatment works fine!
Is laser hair removal permanent?
KT: Laser hair removal has proven to be very effective. Hair removal lasers have been in use since 1997 and have been approved by the FDA for “permanent hair loss” in the United States. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, “permanent hair loss” is defined as a long-term, stable reduction in long-term hair regeneration after treatment.
Laser hair removal will permanently reduce body hair, but there is no scientific evidence that it can permanently remove all body hair. There is no such thing as full hair removal. By laser hair removal, customers should not expect 100% hairless. Let us face reality – your body is a living, attractive organism. It is natural for your body to continue to make hair. This is why the result is called “permanent hair reduction.”
How long is the duration of laser hair removal treatment?
KT: Our hair grows in three stages: Anagen, Telegen and Catagen. Laser hair removal is most effective for hair that develops early in the long term when the hair is actively growing. This is why it is very important to receive laser hair removal in a series of continuous treatments, usually every 4 to 6 weeks.
Most customers report that the number of body hairs is significantly reduced after a series of laser hair removal treatments. The hair that grows is often sparse, delicate, and light in colour. By laser hair removal, you can reduce the amount of shaving you need to do in the future while reducing the amount and thickness of hair that grows. Once the customer has completed a series of complete diode laser hair removal machine treatments, they usually require one or two maintenance sessions per year to maintain results.
When is the best time to get laser hair removal treatment?
KT: The ideal time to receive laser hair removal is to expose the skin to the least amount of sunlight. In the two to four weeks after the skin is exposed to any sun exposure, this situation tends to decrease for most customers.
The ideal treatment time of the year depends on many factors. First of all, the customer’s lifestyle – Does the customer spend a lot of time outdoors to expose the skin? Second, it will depend on the degree of tanning of the customer’s skin. The darker the skin, the less energy the laser can use for safe and effective treatment. As the laser energy decreases, more sessions will be needed to achieve the results customers expect.
Another factor to consider is the area of the body being treated. For facial laser hair removal, the desired result is usually required every 6 weeks. This treatment series can be easily done in the fall and winter seasons. For laser hair removal from the neck to the abdomen area, the desired result is usually required every 8 to 10 weeks. For laser hair removal in areas below the abdomen, the desired result usually needs to be done every 15 weeks. For laser hair removal in the calf area, it may take more than a year for the customer to achieve the desired result.
It is important to note that the farther away the body area is from the face and heart, the longer the healing time, the longer the hair growth cycle. This makes it more difficult to receive laser hair removal in the summer because the skin cannot be exposed to the sun for optimal laser hair removal. This is why most customers do not accept laser hair removal during the summer unless they don’t mind staying indoors and keeping them covered.
